The Corinthian Club
Just had to share about a dinner I organised for work and in particular about the amazing venue. I wanted to move away from the standard hotel room that had been used before. They sometimes feel like your event is just 3 of 50 similiar events taking place that week/month/year, an event done to a formula. That's not to say some hotels can't be great for events, I just find the chain hotels make you feel like a number.
Anyway I wanted to veer away from that and sourced The Corinthian Club in Glasgow. It used to be a private members club and they've totally refurbished it and what a result! As you can see from the pictures there's a casino, various bars, karaoke rooms, a club, private dining rooms etc. It really has personality and each space can cater for individual tastes.
We will definately be using them again, for now I'm looking forward to visiting for sunday brunch sitting it one of the 'faberge egg' chairs, and staring up at the beautiful ceiling.

fabric invitations
How lovely are these wedding invitations from Merriment Design. I think the black, yellow and white are really fresh and the fabric being sewn on gives it a slight 3d effect. You can read the tutorial here and even download the templates to have a go yourself! This is definately something I'm going to be trying.

Paddington updated
Doesn't it just need some marmalade sandwiches? This jacket from YMC is what I want the bf to wear this summer, although at £255 it's a bit on the pricey side, but the colour blocking is so great and it's such a fresh twist on the duffle coat.

sofa so good
I think this is great! I can imagine the creator, Lynn Garrett of Biscuit Scout, just sitting there knitting away on her armchair and before she knows it she's covered the whole thing.

The Socks
A year and a half ago I decided to knit a pair of socks, probably a bit complicated for my first proper knitting project, especially using four needles as they are driving me mad!
A year and a half on I have a glorified ankle warmer, much to the amusement of my boyfriend who see's the socks as another example of something I've said I'll do but never quite finish! As my target completion date of xmas came and went and they weren't on my feet as planned so if I keep charting the progress on here it might give me the boot up the bottom that I need to get it done.
So when he mockingly asks me "How's the socks getting on?" I can say have a look for yourself!

tea please
Anthropologie has to be one of my favorite websites to browse through, this cardi looks so cosy, and since winter is not showing any sign of letting up I may have to invest. I like the contrasting knit detail it makes it look quite expensive. As for the light :) I love this, it looks really pretty all lit up.

Black Swan
I'm so excited about going to see Black Swan on friday, anything with Natalie Portman, ballet and Vincent Cassel has to be a good. Not least the posters, I LOVE them, I've all ready ordered one for my room! They are just so different to anything i 've seen for a long time, a step away from the airbrushed actors and formulaic design, toward a really creative partnership between the film and its advertising. The posters are by british deisgn firm LeBoca who do a lot of deisgn work for the film, music and fashion industries.
